2008 RULES

 

DRIVER REQUIREMENTS

 

1.      Minimum age shall be 13 years old as of event start.

2.      No driver shall exceed the NHRA’s E.T. and MPH rules. Failure to adhere to the minimum E.T. of 4.10 in 330 feet, 7.70 in the 1/8th mile, or a maximum speed of 85 mph will result in disqualification of the driver and vehicle.

3.      All drivers must meet the NHRA’s class designation of advanced Jr. class.

4.      Participants driving abilities are subject to review at any time, any driver lacking the necessary skills to safely compete in the class will be disqualified.

 

WWC 330 JR. DRAGSTER REQUIREMENTS

 

All cars must meet or exceed the NHRA’s safety and technical requirements for Advanced Class.

 

ENGINE AND WEIGHT STANDARDS

   3.308 x 3.00 stroke = 350 lbs. Minimum wt. Car, Driver and Personal Safety Equipment

  3.550 x 3.00 stroke = 400 lbs. Minimum wt. Car, Driver and Personal Safety Equipment

 3.750 x 3.00 stroke = 435 lbs. Minimum wt. Car, Driver and Personal Safety Equipment

¨         Battery Ignition prohibited.

¨         The ignition wire must be permanently installed: either soldered in or bolted to coil.

¨         Engine and clutch systems may not be computer controlled.

¨         Electric or battery fuel pumps are not allowed.

¨         NHRA approved single cylinder engine.

¨         Engine must be a flat head two valve normally aspirated type.

¨         No oil additives to engine oil for horsepower gains. Sample of oil may be taken from any 330 entry for analysis.

 

FUEL

1.    Fuel will be supplied by the WWC 330 Assn. for all scheduled 330 qualifying and elimination runs.

2.        No double cell fuel tanks allowed.

3.        All fuel delivery systems from the fuel tank to the carburetor; including fuel filters, fuel metering devices, fuel pumps, fuel lines and pressure regulators must be completely empty prior to fueling up for qualifying and elimination runs.

4.        Air filter doping is prohibited.

5.        Competitors caught using Nitro-Methane, Nitrous Oxide, Propylene-Oxide or any fuel other than that provided will be immediately disqualified, prizes and points will be forfeited. The Owner, Driver & Crew Chief will be banned from competition indefinitely. The NHRA office will be notified by letter of the infraction.  

6.        All vehicles are subject to random fuel checks. Samples will be retained by the WWC 330 and may be sent to an off-site testing facility.

     ENGINE CERTIFICATION

- Every motor used in competition must be certified by the WWC 330 Technical staff.

Each competitor may have one or two engines for use per event, provided that the motor is certified and tagged prior to approaching the fueling station.

- Engines presented for certification must have a 1/8th inch hole drilled in the block to facilitate tagging. See separate sheet for hole location.

Upon certification the numbered tag will be assigned to the competitor for the season.

- Tampering of the tag will result in disqualification of the car & driver from the event.

If the tag is removed for any reason, the motor must be re-certified & re-tagged.

- Engine(s) assigned to one competition number may be used by another competitor only if the engine tag is re-assigned by a WWC 330 Technical Representative.

- No engines will be certified after the start of eliminations.

It is the Team Owner’s responsibility to ensure that the engines are properly tagged and assigned to the designated competition number. The owner or crew chief must contact the WWC 330 Technical Director to schedule certification and tagging.

- An alternate identification method may be used for some entries at the Denver event only.
RACE PROCEDURES

o    A 4/10 PRO Tree will be used - Fields will be set on a PRO Ladder.

o        Deep staging is not allowed. No pullbacks in qualifying or eliminations – no exceptions.

o        Hands-Off at Pre-Stage: Once the pre-stage bulb is lit, the crew cannot touch any part of the dragster. Failure to comply will result in disqualification of the run/forfeit of the round.

o        Competitors must alternate lanes during qualifying.

o        Single Runs: During competition, the driver must stage the vehicle to be declared the winner.

o        All cars will be fueled prior to each official qualifying and elimination run. Any vehicle without a WWC certified motor will be turned back.

o        All entries must display the WWC 330 decal.  

o        Car and Driver will be weighed after each run. Cars in line to weigh cannot be touched by anyone other than the driver and the WWC weigh-in staff.

o        All ballast must be secured per NHRA rulebook. No loose ballast is allowed.

o        Competitors caught adding weight after the run & prior to weigh-in will be immediately disqualified. The Owner, Driver & Crew Chief will be banned from competition indefinitely; prizes and points will be forfeited.

o        Once Official Qualifying has begun, no runs outside the control of the WWC 330 can be made until after the event conclusion.  

o        Lane choice is awarded to the quicker car from the previous round; in Round 1, lane choice goes to the better qualified car.  

o    The Winner & Runner-up will be subjected to a technical inspection immediately after the final. Engine stroke & bore will be measured for compliance. If the competitor has a second motor assigned, that engine must be presented as well.

o        WWC Records: All prospective records must be backed up within 2%. Records may be backed up during Qualifying or Eliminations of the Event. Records become official upon the Completion of the Event and a technical inspection verifying engine stroke & bore. If the competitor has two motors registered, both must be presented for inspection.

o        Engine Protest: Competitors may protest a fellow competitors engine, requiring said engine to be inspected per above. The participant filing the protest must submit a fee of $400 in cash at time of the protest to the Technical Director. The identity of the party filing the protest must remain confidential. The inspection will occur at the conclusion of the event. If the inspected vehicle is deemed legal, half of the collected fee will be turned over to the inspected participant. If the inspected vehicle is found to be illegal, half of the collected fee will be returned to the participant who filed the protest. In either case, half of the collected fee will be retained by the WWC 330.

o  Non-compliance: Competitors refusing to submit to any required inspection, as well as those found to be illegal in any fashion, will forfeit points and prizes for the event. Further disciplinary action may be taken, including banning the Car Owner, Driver & Crew Chief from competition.
